We only have 168 hours this week. If we are determined to change the marching orders from “You do You” to being a man of God that stands out we don’t have any time to waste. If you plan to change the culture of your home from one of selfishness to one of selflessness than you don’t have any time to waste. If you desire more righteousness in your home and a lot less of the immoral than you don’t have any time to waste. If it is time that your family is spiritually protected from the great evil antagonist than there is no time to waste. The world is teaching them false truths. Men, we need to take the message the Lord has given us to our wives and children before those lies become a part of their souls. We cannot spare another moment.
It is time that the Christian men of this country fall to their needs and cry out for forgiveness for our laziness. We can’t be bothered to spend a few moments in prayer each day. It is no wonder that an entire generation is destined to burn in Hell. That is a direct result of our laziness. There blood is on our hands! We have neglected what it means to be a man of God. We have neglected what it takes to be a man of God. We can’t be bothered because we are simply too busy.
1 Timothy 5:8 Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
Men, it is not too late. We can change the course we are on. The answer is not all that difficult. We just need to devote ourselves to Christ. I gave you five things last week that a man of God is. A man of God is righteous. He is provider and protector. He is a preacher, teacher, and a worship leader to his family. A man of God seeks wise counsel. A man of God is love. These things help to define who you are or at least who you want to be. They are all very important but they cannot be achieved without one thing. That thing is time spent with the Father. You can memorize all of the important scriptures. You can know all of the stories and the people who are a part of them. If you don’t know the author then you don’t know anything.
John 6:44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.
Take a deep breath. It is ok. If you want to really know Him then you need to open your heart and your calendar. The best way to get to know someone is to talk to them. Set aside time to spend in prayer. Prayer gives us the opportunity to express our greatest joys, our deepest fears, our hope for the future, our agreement with others, our thanksgiving for a loving and faithful heavenly Father, and our acts of intercession for others. The simple act of bowing our heads and releasing our hearts to him is a beautiful act of worship. All of these things combine to create a dialogue between you and the Father.
Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
If you are not willing to set aside time with the Father then you are telling Him you don’t care. You don’t care about your relationship with Him. If you don’t care about your relationship with Christ then you must not care if your wife has a relationship with Christ. If you don’t care about her relationship with Christ then you must not care if your children know Him. Do you see where this is going? Essentially you are saying that it is ok if your family burns in Hell.
It doesn’t have to end this way. There is still time this week to change your course. We can lay down our personal version of “You do You” selfishness and seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness.
We have sinned. It is through our own laziness that our families are drifting away from you. Jesus forgive us. Help us to be the men of God that we are called to be. Help us to seek your righteousness. Cleanse our hearts and minds of those things that are impure. Father help us to reach our families. Create in our hearts the message you have for them. Give us the wisdom to impress upon them your message in a way that will never leave them. Put people in our lives that will encourage and support us in our efforts to be men of God who stand out. Thank you for loving us. May that love be evident in all that we do.
